Audience at the Palazzo del Quirinale Concert
IL CONCERTO ALLA PAOLINA
Did some people come for the music? Well, I did!

nel corso dell'apertura al pubblico del Palazzo del Quirinale, si svolge, alle ore 12.00 nella Cappella Paolina, un concerto del Quartetto Petrassi con il seguente programma:
Igor Stravinskij: Concertino per quartetto d’archi;
Goffredo Petrassi: Sinfonia, siciliana e fuga per quartetto d'archi;
Alfredo Casella: 5 pezzi per quartetto op. 34
Il concerto viene trasmesso in diretta da Rai Radio 3.
But some people opened pockets with crackly velcro fastenings, unwrapped and ate sweets, read newspapers, chatted throughout, while others left throughout the performance (not even between pieces or movements) and someone brought a screaming child.
Of course when the performance ended some people dashed off and didn't bother to applaud or stay for the encore. The concert started on the dot at 1200 and was all over including the encore by 1315 so it wasn't exactly a marathon for the uninitiated!
